The Backrooms Network (2025) transforms abandoned Wi-Fi signals into a space for anonymous, collective expression. Visitors are invited to connect to local offline networks, leaving digital traces that form a ghostly, participatory archive — making the invisible architecture of connectivity visible, tactile, and communal.

Form

Five 3D-printed fluorescent PLA sculptures with integrated electronic devices. Each sculpture acts as its own self-contained access point, broadcasting an offline network that lives only inside the building.

Exhibition

Developed specifically for The Backrooms group show at Amsinckstraße 45, Hamburg — a vacant office building whose physical transience reinforces the work's themes of disappearing digital presence. On view 27 September – 19 October 2025. Curated by Georg Juranek, Karla Krey, Artur Neufeld, Merlin Reichart and Stephan Thiel.
